ENERCON provides support to utilities seeking to restart commercial nuclear power plants that have been shut down due to regulatory or performance issues. ENERCON helps to identify root and contributing causes for performance issues and formulate effective corrective actions that will allow the plant to return to top tier performance. ENERCON’s regulatory experts have been involved in over 12 different plant restart efforts including most recently supporting recovery of Omaha Public Power District’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant.
ENERCON works with utilities to develop overall regulatory strategy to exit oversight under NRC Manual Chapter 315. ENERCON has the capabilities and experience to interpret and reconstitute plant licensing bases, as well as manage and respond to NRC inspections and inspection findings. ENERCON helps utilities plan and conduct self-assessments that will measure performance improvements that have been achieved, and prepare for subsequent NRC assessments.
ENERCON provides support for reduction in backlogs of corrective actions and resolution of chronic plant performance problems and issues. ENERCON assists in analyzing compliance with NRC regulations and guidance to identify any performance or compliance gaps that require resolution. ENERCON completes safety analyses, walkdowns, and design modifications necessary to address regulatory issues.
