ENERCON is a leader in developing Combined Operating License Applications under the NRC’s revised licensing process defined in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 52.  These license applications provide the basis for issuance of a single license by the NRC to both construct and operate a commercial nuclear power plant.  The applications require a thorough treatment of all potential natural phenomena hazards associated with the site that could affect the potential nuclear power plants, evaluations of potential radiological releases from the plant during normal operations and during postulated accidents, and determining the environmental impacts from construction and operations of the proposed plants.

ENERCON is unique in terms of the breadth of its technical capabilities to conduct necessary studies, analyze data, and prepare necessary licensing documents including the Final Safety Analysis Report, the Environmental Report, a Site Emergency Plan, a Site Security Plan, and a Departures Report addressing the interface of the proposed plant with the reactor technology provider’s certified design.

ENERCON prepared the reference COL (R-COL) application for the Westinghouse AP1000 reactor technology for NuStart Power LLC, and the R-COL application for the Mitsubishi USAPWR.  ENERCON prepared Subsequent COL applications (S-COL) for a General Electric ESBWR reactor, and for a two unit Westinghouse AP-1000 reactor project.  ENERCON has also provided technical consulting support for projects utilizing the Areva EPR reactor technology, and Advanced Boiling Water reactor technologies.  No company in the United States has the breadth of experience that ENERCON has in supporting diverse reactor technologies.
